Energised by the success of an accounts receivable securitisation transaction initiated in 2018, the founder of Compagnie financière africaine (Cofina) is considering turning to the regional financial market once again – as soon as next year – via a bond issue or securitisation transaction.

The financial institution, now active in seven West and Central African countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal, Guinea, Republic of Congo, Gabon and Côte d’Ivoire), began operating in Ouagadougou in mid-October. Compagnie financière africaine’s co-founder, Jean-Luc Konan, explained to Jeune Afrique Business+ that 50% of its resources are derived from traditional customer deposits, with the remainder coming from institutional investments such as social security funds and term deposits.
