Meridiam doubles up in Gabon with Kinguélé and the Transgabonaise

Already well established in central Africa, particularly in infrastructure at Owendo port, private equity firm Meridiam, under its French CEO and founder Thierry Déau, signed a memorandum of understanding on 24 October in Libreville, according to our sources, for the construction of a 100-km section of the Transgabonaise highway (780 km in total). The cost of this project is estimated at €100m ($110m) and will involve the setting up of a special purpose operating company held 50% by Meridiam and 50% by Gabon Special Economic Zone (GSEZ), Jeune Afrique Business+ has learned.

The two firms are already partners at Owendo mineral port and at the Nouakchott commercial port. The highway operating licence will run for thirty years but the financial closing has still not been completed, our sources indicated.
