DP World struggles to secure deal to take the place of ICTSI at Port Sudan
After being driven out of Djibouti, DP World continues to strengthen its presence in the Horn of Africa and is trying, for the time being in vain, to benefit from the government transition in Sudan to take over the management of the Port Sudan container terminal, known as the South Port Container Terminal (SPCT).

DP World made an offer to Abdallah Hamdok’s transitional government for a 20-year concession. The giant state-owned Emirati group is promoting its interest in making a significant investment in Port Sudan to improve the country’s connections and develop a shipping container hub well positioned to serve East Africa, in tandem with Saudi Arabia’s major terminals at the Jeddah Islamic Port, where DP World is currently one of the main operators.
