Three Americans and one Mauritanian managed the group’s investment in the new 2Africa submarine fibre optic cable. The project brings together a consortium of eight co-investors and will connect 16 countries across the continent.

The cost of the 2Africa (previously known as Simba) submarine internet cable project, launched by Facebook in 2018, remains unknown, although some media put the figure at around $1bn.
