Malagasy State wants to increase stake in Volobe dam to 20%

The IPP hydroelectric project carried by Axian, Africa50 and SN Power is still waiting for the green light from President Rajoelina. Madagascar wants to increase its capital and to review the resale rate of electricity to the public company Jirama. The commissioning of the project has been postponed by two years to 2025.

The future hydroelectric dam of Volobe, located near the coastal city of Toamasina, is in turmoil. Despite promises of sufficient funding and completed technical studies, the project has been delayed again.
