There have been many reasons for concern in recent months for mining companies operating in the country, mainly in the gold sector. On the morning of 8 February, during a special “Mali country meeting” at the Mining Indaba, Soussourou Dembele spoke about the creation of the new national company, Société de Recherche et d’Exploitation des Ressources Minérales (Sorem SA). He explained, among other things, that there was room for everyone and that the company would not overshadow the existing players.
