Funding secured for the central loop on the Tunis Metro (Transtu)

The extension of the central loop of the Tunis Metro, a project estimated at €89m ($97.5m), has secured financing with support from the French Development Agency (AFD) through EU funds. Construction firms TPF-I, SCET and Getinsa will be asked to submit bids as prime contractors. Jeune Afrique Business+ explains.

The financing plan is now in place for the major project to expand the central loop (Boucle Centrale) of the Tunis Metro. Run by Transtu, the Tunis transport authority, the Metro (which is in fact a tramway, known as métro léger locally) has secured a €6m ($6.59m) grant from the French Development Agency (AFD).
