Walmart seeks to return to profit by closing 34 stores

Ten years after deciding to position itself in Africa, the subsidiary of the U.S. giant, which operates 440 outlets in thirteen countries on the continent, plans to reduce its coverage and has begun discussions with the unions for the closure of 34 stores.

Less than three months after being selected to turn around the continental operations of the world’s largest company in terms of sales, Mitchell Slape‘s choice to cut Massmart Holdings LTD‘s payroll by 3% fell on electronics distributor Dion-Wired, as well as the Masscash wholesale division.
