Akinwumi Adesina outstrips all opponents to his succession as head of the AfDB: the inside story
According to sources close to the story, particularly within the pan-African institution where the prospect was a cause for concern for the Nigerian leader’s team, Adesina will not face any other candidates during his re-election campaign.

The Nigerian ex-minister for Agriculture and Rural Development has a clear road ahead for his re-election bid as head of the African Development Bank (AfDB). According to various sources, as at the 31 January 2020 deadline, no other candidate had chosen to stand against Akinwumi Adesina, who started his first term five years ago on 1 September 2015.
