Macky Sall’s regional mining hub seeking consultants

With the backing of the African Development Bank, Dakar is seeking to establish itself as a key player in the West African mining sector.

On 2 March, an expression of interest (EOI) was issued by the Akinwumi Adesina Institution to recruit a consultancy firm to carry out a feasibility study for a future “regional mining hub” in the country. In detail, and according to the terms of a working document seen by Jeune Afrique Business+, the successful firm will be commissioned to establish an inventory of the sector with “a detailed analysis of the mining value chains, at the national and sub-regional levels” in order to determine the “comparative advantages” in Senegal.
