Senegal’s second-largest industrial groundnut oil processor is in turmoil.

While the groundnut trading season which opened on 3 December is in full swing, the national oilseed production enterprise (Compagnie de production des Oléagineux – Copéol), formerly Novasen, and a Franco-Senegalese joint venture between Avril, Castel and AKF, has ceased all operations since the end of January due to a shortage of groundnuts to keep its crushers running.
