Covid-19: Proparco surveys its partners to address the crisis
Usually a catalyst for projects, the private arm of the French Development Agency (AFD) is now fulfilling a different role: that of a rescuer coming to the aid of the businesses under its wing which have been impacted by the Covid-19 epidemic. The idea is also to find a solution collectively.

On the ground, “we’re involved at various levels,” said Fatoumata Sissoko-Sy, who has been the institution’s regional director for Western Africa since October 2019. Aid takes the form of direct financing to businesses and intermediated financing via banks, microfinance institutions and investment funds backing microenterprises and SMEs.
