Under the leadership of Marna Cloete, Ivanhoe Mines hones its management team

The Canadian mining company, founded by industry veteran Robert Friedland and a partner of Zijin Mining, is developing the world’s fourth largest copper mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), with initial production scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2021.

Meanwhile, Marna Cloete, Ivanhoe’s Chief Financial Officer since 2009, has added the position of President of the mining firm to her load since last month and is streamlining the company’s organisational structure during the Covid-19 crisis. A Chartered Accountant who started her career in the Metals and Mining division of PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2002, Ms Cloete is implementing a cost-reduction plan set to save $75m (€69.1m).
