Bernt Meldgaard Christensen, a Dane based in Copenhagen with a 30-year career in shipping, has just taken over the reins of GSC following the death of his brother Henrik. Hong Kong-based Henrik Christensen created the company in 2010 to try to overcome the challenge of setting up a liner shipping company after the disappearance of West African national shipowners (such as COBENAM, SITRAM and Camship) in the 1990s. But GSC has, since then, remained on stand-by.
