China’s number two gold producer has finally seen its bid for a majority stake in Cardinal Resources accepted by the Australian gold producer based in West Africa.

Three other companies were competing for the mine, which owns the world-class Namdini project in Ghana with a potential of 5 million oz. These were Nordgold and Engineers & Planners, the brother of former Ghanaian president Mahama, and another Chinese company, Dongshan Investments Ltd.
