DR Congo: Tshisekedi’s artisanal gold sales channel to the Emirates gets underway

Production under the JV with the United Arab Emirates authorised at the end of December 2022 is still at a symbolic stage. The aim is to reduce smuggling by informal gold miners in South Kivu, under the leadership of Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde and Joseph M Kazibaziba, an economic operator in the region and president of the National Commission for Mining Crafts.

The Tshisekedi presidency in DR Congo welcomed the first shipment of legally certified artisanal gold to the United Arab Emirates for processing at the Auric Hub refinery in Abu Dhabi on Friday, 13 January.
