Senegal: Mamadou Bocar Sy’s BHS about to receive $38.5 million from IFC

The Banque de l’Habitat du Sénégal, which accounts for 70% of the real estate borrowing market, will receive a senior loan package of US$ 38.5 million, arranged by the IFC, the Washington-based financial institution, which holds a minority stake in the bank.

The Banque de l’Habitat du Sénégal (BHS) is a Senegalese bank set up in 1980 to finance housing, particularly from its socioeconomic perspective. Led since 2010 by the managing director, Mamadou Bocar Sy, BHS is expecting support from the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The World Bank‘s private sector arm recently organised a tailor-made financing and guarantee package for the Dakar-based bank.
