CFAO Retail opens a 2nd Carrefour Market in Cameroon, plans a first Supeco in early 2020 and a PlaYce in 2021
At the beginning of the year, the retail group introduced the hard discount banner SUPECO to increase its market coverage in Africa and to boost sales and revenues. It is now pushing ahead with the launch of the Carrefour Market brand and a large PlaYce mall which, as in Côte d’Ivoire, will target middle-class shoppers.

CFAO Retail opened the new Carrefour Market at Ekié in Yaoundé on 9 October. According to our sources, Romuald Drelon has been promoted to General Manager from his position as boss of Carrefour Market at Bonamoussadi in Douala. Drelon will report to Luc Demez, CEO Cameroon at CFAO Retail. A third of staff from the Bonamoussadi store have been transferred to Ekié as part of internal changes for the launch of the new 1,600-m2 outlet.
