LNG in Mozambique: Total gets backing from the AfDB for the Area 1 mega project
The AfDB has secured a welcome first financing for the former Anadarko project, a $20 billion liquefied gas development led by Total in the north of the country. Société Générale remains financial advisor to the project group which intends to raise a record amount of approximately $15 billion in debt.

The consortium led by Total for the Area 1 Mozambique LNG mega project is making progress in its financing. The African Development Bank approved a loan of $400 million for this purpose at the end of November. The pan-African institution is, to date, one of the first investors to have made public its commitment to Area 1 Mozambique LNG, whose final closing is expected in 2020.
