Global Ports and MSC finalise the acquisition of La Goulette cruise terminal

Goulette Shipping Cruise, a company owned by Al Karama Holding, a Tunisian state holding company, was awarded a 30-year concession in 2006 to build (under a BOT) and develop the cruise terminal – two quays, a ferry terminal and a cruise village – at the port of La Goulette, the passenger port of Tunis.

After a year of negotiations led by Tunisian merchant bank CAP Bank, the terminal was bought by a new company governed by British law, Goulette Cruise Holding Ltd. Behind this joint-venture are two giants of the sector: the Italian-Swiss cruise ship owner MSC Cruises and the British cruise terminal management company Global Ports Holding. The acquisition was finalised on 6 January this year.
