Société Générale, Bouygues, AP-HP… The group of French companies backing the Cotonou hospital mega-project 

The project, initiated by Emmanuel Macron in 2018 during a meeting with Patrice Talon, has a price tag of €175 million. It assembles an unprecedented and entirely French group and will be constructed by Bouygues with an export guarantee from Bpifrance. French bank Société Générale will completely fund the project.

The future state-of-the-art hospital located in Abomey-Calavi, not far from Benin’s capital, will be altogether developed by French companies. The final agreement for the project’s financial aspects was signed on 5 February in Cotonou by the Minister of the Economy Romuald Wadagni and Société Générale. The bank is on the front lines and is the Mandated Lead Arranger for this unprecedented transaction in Benin for everything that involves the financing package and funding levels.
