The World Bank, Chemin de fer du Sénégal and SOPAFER (Mali) anxiously awaiting costing figures from the TYPSA engineering consultancy
The conclusions of the Spanish consultancy will determine the amount of World Bank aid for the relaunch of the Dakar-Bamako railway. For its part, Belgian company Vecturis is keen to obtain the future operating concession.

Last year, the World Bank asked TYPSA experts to review their study, which now aims to simply rehabilitate the railway line linking the two countries. At the end of March, a donor delegation is expected to travel to the region for a meeting with the key government agents who are designated to act on the project, namely Oumar Youm, the Senegalese Minister of Infrastructure and Land Transport, and Ibrahima Abdoul Ly, the Minister of Transport and Urban Mobility.
