Africa Waste Energy plans to begin producing 10 MW of power via the Nkolfoulou landfill in the suburbs of Yaoundé.

“We hope to start operating in 2021 if the administrative formalities prove to be successful”, Arlette Tchapoya, CEO of Africa Waste Energy, told Jeune Afrique Business+. The company is promoting a project to produce electricity using biogas from the Nkolfoulou landfill, located 12 kilometres away from Yaoundé and managed by Hygiène et salubrité du Cameroun (Hysacam), headed by Michel Ngapanoun.
