A Barrick and AngloGold supplier, Carrières et Chaux du Mali looks to intensify competition with Belgium’s Carmeuse

The firm is looking to capture market share from multinationals operating in Mali by doubling its production capacity thanks to a $9m aid package from IFC.

The sister organisation of the World Bank will thus finance more than half (€8.92m) of the company’s €17m funding round, with the rest of the money coming from UK, Australian and Canadian partners, according to our sources. The chief executive of Carrières et Chaux du Mali (CCM), Hadi Ly, explained that the company is still seeking out equity to be able to expand operations.
