In Algeria, Marriott postpones the opening of two new properties
The group has had to delay the launch of hotels in the Algerian capital due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Teams are trying to prepare for what happens next as the government extends the lockdown.

While it had planned to launch a Residence Inn and a Marriott in Algiers at the beginning of March, the American chain has had to postpone these openings indefinitely, Jeune Afrique Business+ has learned. “Construction was finished and everything was ready on site,” explains Philippe Bonnot, Country General Manager in Algeria for Marriott International. This comes as a blow for the chain, which has been expanding in Africa and has 40 new property openings planned between now and 2023.
