Bunker One’s growth thwarted in West Africa

At the beginning of May, an operation by the Ghana Maritime Authority, conducted with the army and the maritime police, led to the arrest of eight people suspected of being involved in illegal bunkering off Takoradi. They were on board a wooden boat, known locally as a dendey, used to provide bunker fuel at sea.

Six such vessels have been intercepted since March, according to William Thompson, Deputy Director at Ghana Maritime Authority.
