Economist Cesar Augusto Mba Abogo to Head AfDB in Maputo
The appointment of the oil sector expert, a former finance minister of Equatorial Guinea, to head the activities in Mozambique, has been confirmed by the institution’s board of directors.

Cesar Augusto Mba Abogo, part of the government of Teodoro Obiang Nguema, president of Equatorial Guinea between April 2019 and October 2020, will be moving to Maputo. The Equatorial Guinean economist and commentator has been appointed Country Director for Mozambique by the Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB). This is a strategic choice in a country where the hydrocarbon sector is currently under pressure.
