AVZ Minerals holds the Manono project, a former lithium and tin mine operated throughout the 20th century, located in the Tanganyika province. The Australian junior discovered a lithium resource there that is currently estimated at 400 million tonnes. The Chinese company Suzhou CATH, owned by CATL, the world’s largest producer of lithium-ion batteries, and Pei Zhenhua (one of CATL’s shareholders), recently invested $240 million in AVZ in exchange for 24% of the capital.
