Climate Fund: Paris urges IMF to release funds in 2022

The new Resilience and Sustainability Trust Fund (RSF), approved in mid-April, targets an endowment of $45 billion in principle. France is still leaning towards $50 billion and disbursements before the end of 2022.

A new mechanism to support investments in the fight against climate change was launched on 14 April, after months of work by Kristalina Georgieva, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Approved unanimously by the Board – apparently unusual according to a source within the institution – the Resilience and Sustainability Trust (RST) will be operational in principle from 1 May.
