Dangote Industries’ Togolese phosphates licences not renewed

According to Africa Business+ sources, the Togolese state, represented by the Togolese Ministry of Mines, has withdrawn the two exploration licences granted to Dangote Industrie Ltd more than three years ago as part of an announced investment of more than US$2 billion.

The licences were granted to Dangote Industrie Limited in February 2020, four months after the signing of an agreement in Lomé in the presence of the Togolese Head of State, Faure Gnassingbé, between Togo and the CEO of the Nigerian group Aliko Dangote. They have have not been renewed.
