Egypt: major institutional investment in the Lorax SME PE fund ($250 million)
The EBRD, EIB and IFC are to invest almost $100m in the SME-focused fund managed by U.S. firm Lorax Capital Partners. The fund has a target size of $250m.

Set up in 2015 and run by Ashraf Zaki, a former executive at Morgan Stanley, fund manager Lorax will receive significant backing for its future Lorax Capital Partners Fund II. The fund aims to raise a total of $250m and will make equity and quasi-equity investments in Egyptian SMEs and mid-cap companies.
