Chinese investors rush to Congo’s Mbuji-Mayi airport

In the heart of the diamond-rich Eastern Kasai Province (Kasaï-Oriental), nine Chinese companies bid on the renovation of the local airport.

Out of the twelve companies that answered the invitation for bids issued in July 2019 by the African Development Bank (AfDB), only three were local. The others came entirely from the Middle Kingdom.
