How Intelsat is helping Orange and MTN expand mobile coverage to remote areas
The satellite operator has held a stake in the UK group of companies Africa Mobile Network since 2018. The association with AMN enables Intelsat to deploy mobile broadband on behalf of telecom players to the continent’s most remote corners.

Connecting rural and hard-to-access areas to mobile networks is expensive and traditional telecommunications operators, which avoid this kind of venture, are regularly brought to task by regulators about their lack of initiative. For satellite telecommunications service providers like Intelsat, this has left an untapped market in which they are trying to invest.
