Ghana: Green light from Newmont expected this year for $700 million development of Ahafo North
The Canadian group, the world’s largest gold producer, posted record results in 2020, despite a drop in ounces produced, due among other to lower gold grades at the Ahafo mining site in Ghana.

Newmont Corporation has operated two yellow metal mining sites in Ghana, Akyem and Ahafo. The group has worked for several years on the possibility of extending the life of Ahafo, the larger of the two mines.
