Independent shipowners are disappearing from Africa in favour of global carriers. NileDutch follows the same fate as French Delmas and British Otal, absorbed by CMA CGM, and the Belgian-South African Safmarine, taken over by Maersk and several other African service specialists. Their names, initially retained, have now disappeared.
