Milieudefensie lodges complaint against SCS Global Services over “responsible palm oil” certifications issued to Socfin

Jeune Afrique Business+ has learned that the reason for the complaint was several violations of the certification process—”Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil” (RSPO Principles and Criteria)—in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria and Sierra Leone.

The Dutch NGO Milieudefensie—Friends of the Earth Netherlands—representing members of communities living near palm oil plantations belonging to the Luxembourg group Société financière des caoutchoucs (Socfin), filed a complaint on 2 June with Assurance Services International (ASI) in Germany against the American auditor SCS Global Services.
