BNP Paribas on the verge of withdrawing from Senegal

The French giant continues its reorientation on the continent by selling its shares in BICIS.

According to Africa Business+ sources, BNP Paribas is about to sell its subsidiary in the Republic of Senegal. The French giant is planning on selling its shares in its subsidiary Banque Internationale pour le Commerce et l’Industrie du Sénégal (BICIS). The bank’s general manager, Bernard Levie, called an extraordinary executive committee meeting on the matter at the beginning of the week. Levie is the former head of BICIG, BNP’s ex-subsidiary in Gabon, sold in 2020.
