ONEE disqualifies Abengoa-Engie for Casablanca desalination contract

As anticipated by Africa Business+ this summer, the French-Spanish consortium was excluded by Morocco’s National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) from the pre-qualification phase, due to the financial difficulties of Abengoa, which has been placed in judicial liquidation.

In an official letter received by ONEE, the French group Engie, for its part, aimed to prove its financial soundness in meeting all the criteria as defined by the contract specifications. It, however, did not go further and accepted ONEE’s decision.
