Indian port group Adani replaces China’s Hutchison in Africa
TPA, the Tanzanian public port authority, has chosen the port subsidiary of the Indian family conglomerate Adani to develop the port of Dar-es-Salaam. This is Adani’s first, though modest, foot in the African ports sector, replacing China’s Hutchison.

Pending the signing of a long-term concession, the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) has provisionally entrusted the Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), headed by Karan Adani, with the operation of four berths in the port of Dar es Salaam for container traffic.
