The project will evaluate the potential for exploitation of the rare earth ore monazite, found mainly in the Ranobe deposits in the mineral sands of Toliara. Monazite contains thorium, which can be used to support the development of renewable energy infrastructure. A conceptual study on monazite by Base Resources will be completed in March and will determine whether or not the company will launch a pre-feasibility study of the project.
