The project is part of the Vision 2050 plan to provide electricity to the country by 2024. The project has the support of the African Development Bank (AfDB), which provided $84 million – a loan of $36.77 million and a grant of $47.45 million. The budget covers the consultancy and supervision mission, awarded to the consortium formed by the French company SOFRECO and the local company IBC Group, following a call for tenders at the end of March 2021.
