Ethiopia’s Dashen Bank seeks international funding from FMO
Dashen Bank is on the verge of receiving dollar funding, a package that will benefit local farmers, some of whose production is destined for export.

Asfaw Alemu, the head of Dashen Bank – one of Ethiopia’s leading banks – has reason to rejoice as he is about to join the list of recipients of FMO funds. The Dutch development bank spent over €450 million in Africa last year and is ready to grant Dashen a €10 million loan, which would be the first-ever operation between the two entities. This loan could even be doubled over time, depending on the results of the first tranche.
