In its programme to develop a circular economy based on high-value biofuel in Kenya, the Italian oil company ENI is working to integrate the sector further. It now intends to start refining its vegetable waste oils locally. A feasibility study is underway to assess the feasibility of converting the Kenya Petroleum Refineries Limited (KPRL) site into a commercial biofuel production unit capable of processing residues from the production of vegetable oils (but not palm oil), used cooking and frying oils and even animal fats.
