Jumia now looking to “develop its business in growth countries” such as Côte d’Ivoire
The African e-commerce company continues to lose money on the continent and is packing up in Rwanda where it offered its meal delivery service, Jumia Food. This is the third closure after shutdowns in Tanzania and Cameroon for the company which has yet to find a stable business model.

To stop this haemorrhage, a source from Jumia told Jeune Afrique Business+ that the company now wants to focus on “growth markets”, i.e. established and mature markets in the e-commerce sector – which only accounts for 1% of retail transactions in Africa today – including Kenya, Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire.
