Vantage Capital more than doubles its investment as it exits Vumatel

The continent’s largest mezzanine debt manager has profited from the exponential growth of the South African home fibre broadband provider, and is scouting out further opportunities in the sector in North and West Africa.

Following the group’s refinancing by a collection of South African banks, Vantage is withdrawing from Vumatel with a total sum of 5 billion rand (€250m). Standard Bank, Absa Bank, Investec and Rand Merchant Bank are among those taking the fund’s place.
