Djibouti becomes part of the ICSID Administrative Council

The small East African country just ratified the ICSID Convention to join the World Bank Group-affiliated international arbitration centre, which allows it to designate a representative to serve on its main governing body.

The Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States (the ICSID Convention) will enter into force for Djibouti on 9 July, the arbitration institution revealed on 9 June. This date is exactly one month to the day after Djibouti ratified the convention, which the country, led by Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, signed on 12 April 2019.
