Behind the scenes of ENI SNAM Algeria-Tunisia-Italy gas pipeline deal

The agreement, valued at €405 million, provides the transfer to the Italian network operator SNAM of 49.9% of the companies operating the gas infrastructures that link the Algerian border to Italy via Tunisia and the Sicilian Channel.

Several advisors surrounded ENI and SNAM for this unprecedented operation. On the financial side, notably the valuations, according to information obtained by Africa Busines+, ENI was supported by Rothschild & Co. SNAM used the Italian bank Unicredit and Costagama, a boutique created by Claudio Costamagna, a former Goldman Sachs employee.
