Bouamatou puts Orange’s Sonatel back in play for Mattel takeover in Mauritania
The Senegalese subsidiary of the French group, out of the picture at the beginning of December, is emerging as the likely buyer of the Tunisie Telecom subsidiary. Axian has withdrawn from the sale process.

At the end of 2021, Axian confirmed it was pushing ahead with the purchase of the Mauritanian operator Mattel. Its offer of around €100 million was significantly higher than its competitors, including Orange (bidding through its Senegalese subsidiary, Sonatel).
