One of the four funding packages unveiled by the independent agency, which is headed by Sean Cairncross, is being channelled towards the organisational strengthening of Burkina Faso’s electricity sector. A source explained to Jeune Afrique Business+ that a $47m cheque is being signed with the intention of supporting Sonabel (Société Nationale d’Electricité du Burkina) and the energy regulator, the Autorité de Régulation du Sous-secteur de l’Electricité (ARSE). The sum will be used for internal reorganisation within the two bodies, mainly to improve their legal structures.
