Cotonou retains Sinohydro for €93 million cotton roads backbone project
The Chinese giant Sinohydro—ranked fifth largest construction company globally in 2013 and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange—has won the €93 million contract for the Djougou-Pehunco-Kerou-PK 183+980 (183.98 km) road section in Benin.

The contract is part of the construction of the Djougou-Pehunco-Kérou-Banikoara road—the backbone of cotton roads in Benin’s central, western and northern departments. The project is co-financed by the AfDB, Africa Growing Together (AGTF)—the fund created by the AfDB and the People’s Bank of China—the EU-Africa Infrastructure Trust Fund (EU-AITF), the West African Development Bank (BOAD) and the Beninese government to the tune of €195.32 million.
